Alice and I found this guy sunning himself across the trail just past Deer Flat during a hike at Mount Diablo today. We thought it might have been dead right up to the point where I gently nudged him with one of my hiking poles. He was just resting and honestly was less than thrilled with my interruption of his nap. He let me know right away about that.
