Today's hike at Mount Diablo was more like a hike through squirrel city.
There were dozens of the Diablo squirrels along the trail as they darted alongside our path and occasionally jumped out in front of us. The one thing you notice quickly about Diablo's squirrels is they are some of the fattest you will ever see. Real chunky monkeys as they sit in the tall grass eating the tips of the grass stalks. They are some brave guys too as they sit out with hawks and eagles soaring above.
